Maternity photo shoot – A+R

Our maternity photo shoot was amazing! The weather was perfect. It was not too hot and not too cold! It wasn’t even buggy! We had our photo shoot on September 16th at 6:30pm at Yates Mill Pond in North Carolina. The photographer was Nicole Hanner and she did a great job. She will also be taking our newborn pictures, I can’t wait! Enjoy!

39 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: 28 pounds.
Maternity clothes: Yes, I am wearing only maternity clothes and filling them out nicely! Feeling big, but the dress that I choose for the maternity photo shoot turned out great!
Sleep: I am tossing and turning more and more. It is uncomfortable…I wake up with neck and arm  pains because I don’t like lying on my sides.
Best moment this week: My best moments was our maternity photo shoot. We got some of the pictures back and they turned out really good. I also had a OB appointment for baby where they did a non stress test. NST is when the doctor monitors the babies heart beat for 20 minutes. What they are looking for is acceleration and deceleration patterns. If there aren’t any or very few that can mean the baby is in distress. Baby’s test was normal, however, he was very uncooperative for the test. He was moving all around…the 20 minute test took me 45 minutes because he wouldn’t not sit still! Haha, it made me laugh and the doctors were so impressed with all of his movements!
Miss anything? Abdominal muscles and bladder volume, hehe!
Movement: Tons of movement, he is getting so strong!!
Food cravings: Smoothies….been obsessing about smoothies?
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Symptoms: My fingers and feet are swollen which is not that much fun, feet hurt almost daily. It makes being on my feet for work a little difficult but everyone at work is working with me and letting me take breaks! Love my coworkers!

Belly button in or out? Pretty much an outie now!
Wedding rings on or off? I am wearing my wedding band only.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and moody. The photos turned out great! Well, a few of them did. I wish I wouldn’t have waited until I was 38 weeks to take them because I look pregnant and swollen! In saying that, there are some really good ones!

Looking forward to: Meeting my little man! Time has flown bye! Rick and I finished our birthing and labor classes this week. I feel much better about the birthing process! What was really nice is that we got to tour the labor and birthing suits so I know where to go and what to expect the rooms to be like. I have a few more appointments this upcoming week. They will be doing NST on each visit to make sure baby is happy and healthy. My doctor explained to me that they will not induce labor unless he is over due. Lets not hope for that!
Days to go: 7 days to go!
Baby development: Baby is the size of a mini watermelon. He weighs around 7 pounds and is 20 inches long from head to heel. He is officially full term this week and I can’t wait to meet him! He will continue to build layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth. His lungs are now fully mature as well. The outer layer of his skin is sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

Amanda

38 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: 26 pounds.
Maternity clothes: Yes, I am wearing only maternity clothes and filling them out nicely!
Sleep: I am tossing and turning more and more. I am uncomfortable but I do allow myself to still get plenty of time to sleep. I really think that I am just not a lying on my side sleeper. I miss lying on my belly. I really think that these last two weeks are really just preparing me for my sleepless nights that are in my future:)
Best moment this week: My best moments are just getting things finished. I finished the felt fire pit for the tippee. Hung black out curtains up for baby to sleep during the day. The crib is done and ready. The car seat is in the car and ready. I got my car cleaned and my oil changed. I finally finished all my thank you’s from my baby shower. I also made a google account for baby. If you want to email him, his email address is grahamtsalinas@gmail.com . I boiled all of the breast pump parts and bottles so that is all ready to go if I need it.
Symptoms: My fingers are still really swollen which makes my finger joints hurt. Feet are starting to swell, I can’t seem to get any of my ‘nice’ shoes on…so its tennis shoes and flip flops. Oh, and there is still heart burn every now and then…
Belly button in or out? Pretty much an outie now!
Wedding rings on or off? I am wearing my wedding band only. I have just come to terms with leaving it on all the time. I even tried to put my wedding ring on and I literally could not force it on. Bummer, I love my ring:)
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and moody, I have felt better this week because I have accomplished so much. We had our maternity photo shoot last Saturday and I think they turned out amazing! We had them taken at sunset and the evening was perfect. Not too hot and not buggy at all. I can’t wait to see them!!
Looking forward to: These next couple of weeks coming to an end and getting to hold my little boy in my arms. Also, my ultrasound/appointments went well last week. The baby is measuring big(39 weeks) around the waist. The femur and head circumference are measure 38 weeks. With the ultrasound measurements had an estimated babies weight at 7 pounds 14 ounces. It is am estimate and I know that the ultrasound can be off by a pound or two so I am trying not to focus on the ultrasound measurements. Since he is measuring big and I only have two weeks left(up too three weeks), each time I go to the doctor they are going to do another quick ultrasound to make sure he is healthy and happy.
Days to go: 14 days to go!
Baby development: Baby is the size of a leek. He weighs around 6.8 pounds and is 19.5 inches long from head to heel. He has a firm grasp, which you’ll soon be able to test when I hold his hand for the first time. His organs are matured and are ready for life outside the womb. If he is born with brown eyes, they are likely to stay brown, which is the color of Rick’s eyes. If he is born with blue or gray eyes they possible could turn to green or hazel which is the color of my eyes. I can’t wait to see my beautiful baby boy!

37 weeks

Total weight gain/measurements: 25 pounds.
Maternity clothes: Yes, I am wearing only maternity clothes and filling them out nicely!
Sleep: Still is getting more and more difficult. I have had to start using melatonin to help me go to sleep. I think partly that Rick snores quietly and that I am tossing and turning most of the night.
Best moment this week: Getting more of the babies room organized. Rick helped me put stuff I didn’t need up into the attic, which was so helpful! We put his stroller together and installed his car seat. I think by the end of this week I will be pretty much done with organization and having all that I will need for him. I did notice that he has WAY too many clothes…he is not even here and already spoiled! haha!! Rick and I went to our first birth and labor class last Thursday. We both had mixed feeling about it because we really didn’t learn anything new. I feel that it is important just to go through the motion and get you mind and body in the “baby mode”. We will have two more classes and one breast feeding class.
Miss anything? Abdominal muscles and bladder volume, hehe!
Movement: Tons of movement.
Food cravings: Smoothies and pancakes…not sure why?
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Symptoms: My fingers are still really swollen which makes my finger joints hurt. I have also started to have heart burn again.
Belly button in or out? Pretty much an outie now!
Wedding rings on or off? I am wearing my wedding band only. I have just come to terms with leaving it on all the time.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and moody, I have felt a little stress this last week just because I feel there is still so much to get done and the baby could be here at any day really. I guess I just feel more of an urgency and Rick feels like we have 3 weeks. Regardless, he is very helpful and we got a lot done this last week. We even installed the car seats in our vehicles together. It is surreal seeing the car seat through the rear view mirror. Next, we will take our vehicles to get checked out by the fire department to make sure everything is installed correctly.

Looking forward to: My ultrasound appointment is tomorrow to measure his growth. It will be interesting to see how he measures with ultrasound since my fundal height is putting me at 38-39 weeks when I am actually 36-37 weeks. I wonder if they would change my due date….doubt it!
Days to go: 22 days to go!
Baby development: Baby is the size of swiss chard. He weighs around 6 1/3 pounds and is 19 inches long from head to heel.Spending the next two weeks in the womb allows his brain and lungs to fully mature. Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 in to 1 1/2 inches long.

36 weeks

OMG, I only have four weeks left! eeekkk!!
Total weight gain/measurements: 23 pounds.
Maternity clothes: Of course, I don’t think that I could even fit into any of my old clothes. I am still trying to figure out which dress to wear during my maternity photo shoot. To be determined….
Sleep: Is getting more and more difficult, but honestly still not bad. I have been getting like 9-10 hours even on work days so that is really helpful. I can still sleep a short time on my back which is nice because sleeping only on my sides can be annoying and uncomfortable on my back.
Best moment this week: Just nesting more and more. Getting all of his clothes washed and organized. In saying all of that, I have a new niece that graced us with her presence. Gemma Mae Hinderman was born August 31, 2016. 6 lbs 14 ounces. Steph wasn’t actually due until September 9th but the baby was in distressed during a routine stress test, so they decided to delivery her that day. Both Steph and Gemma spent a few days in the hospital but are now home and doing great! Gemma looks so much like Gunner! He looks like he is going to be such a great big brother! I can’t wait to meet her!! She is so cute!
Miss anything? Typically someone would write something about missing food but I am missing the use of my abdominal muscles! It is difficult to just roll over in bed, meh!
Movement: Tons of movement. It is interesting when he pushes against me and his back makes my belly into a very bizarre shape. He has gotten the hiccups several more times. When Adrianna was visiting he got hiccups and she was able to feel him have them, haha!
Food cravings: Overall, this pregnancy I have craved sweets! Which is interesting because I would never consider myself a lover of sweets. I kinda hope it goes away once he is born. I am super excited to meet him and getting my body back into shape!
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Symptoms: My fingers are still really swollen which makes my finger joints hurt.
Belly button in or out? Still, partially in and partially out.
Wedding rings on or off? I am wearing my wedding band only. I have just come to terms with leaving it on all the time.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, I am so excited for Rick to come back to NC, finally! He will be back September 5th! It has been a long time apart but we are still doing great! Would I do it again, probably not! Being in my ninth month of pregnancy I need him here to help…in saying that, I am very independent and it has forced me to keep moving and being active so….BUT I am so so excited to see him tonight!
Looking forward to: I have another doctors appointment tomorrow. Last weeks doctors visit my fundal height measurement was at 38 weeks when I was only 35 weeks. So the doctor recommended an ultrasound to measure him. To be honest, the fundal height  measurement is really inaccurate. Because I have done ultrasound in the past I know that the ultrasound measurements can also be off by a pound, pound and  a half. I guess I am not too concerned about either of these measurements…he will come when he is ready! The doctor told me that it is very unlikely that I would be induced unless I go way over my due date of October 2nd. In saying all of this, when I found out I was pregnant I was very accurate with my last menstrual cycle being 12/13/15. Which would make me due 9/18/16. This date would make the fundal height measurements accurate. Who really knows!
Days to go: 28 days to go!
Baby development: Baby is the size of a romaine lettuce. He weighs around 6 pounds and is 18.5 inches long from head to heel. He is shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his ninth-month amniotic bath. He swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture called meconium that will form the contents of his first bowel movement.
