21 weeks

How far along?  21 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: Okay so I have gained 2 pounds but I think it is more due to traveling and just not eating healthy so Rick and I are back to a healthy lifestyle now that we have a few weeks staying in North Carolina.
Maternity clothes: Haven’t purchased any more maternity clothes but I have a feeling as I get further along in this pregnancy I might need some more clothes.
Sleep: Still sleeping good. It seems I am more and more uncomfortable flat on my back when sleeping so I am sure I will have stop soon. I am still sleeping 9-10 hours and feeling great every morning!
Best moment this week: The best moment would be getting the baby’s crib delivered! It still is sitting up in the loft, in pieces, but Rick and I hope to get it put together this next week. We also purchased  a matching dresser but one of the legs is broken so they are ordering us another one that is not broken. They look so nice even in pieces, lol. Everything is coming together, so exciting!
Miss anything? Missing sushi this week! Rick is really good as making sushi at home. He made it for dinner but I can only eat the cooked stuff. I really miss the raw salmon sashimi.
Movement: The best feeling of the pregnancy is when I feel him moving! I catch myself waiting for him. It also seems like it is becoming more like a routine when he kicks. It is about every two or three hours. I mostly feel him at night and in the morning.
Food cravings: Sushi!
Anything making you queasy or sick? No.
Gender: It’s a BOY! Still working on the middle name. I have it narrowed down to a couple that we really like but still to be determined:)
Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: None.
Belly button in or out? In, not sure if my belly button would ever become and outie!  We will see of course:)
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! Rick and I had a great weekend together! We took a day road trip and had lots of laughs. I am so lucky to have such a great guy!
Looking forward to: Getting his crib and dresser set up and in his room. Seeing it all come together will be fun and I will share the processes on this blog.
Days to go: 133 days to go!
Baby development: Baby is the size of a carrot. He is about 10.5 inches from head to heel. He is practicing more and more martial arts and his movements are turning into full-fledged kicks and nudges. I have discovered a pattern to his activity. In other development, his eyebrows and lids are present now and in a few weeks the eyes can open and shut but the baby can’t see quite yet.

How far along?  20 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: Still even and loving it!
Maternity clothes: Purchased a wedding dress for this past weekends reception. I loved it! It was a maternity dress so it had a cute little gathering in the front to accent the baby bump. It was very comfortable and I think that it looked nice too!
Sleep: Sleeping great! I am feeling more and more movement and its right about the time that I am laying down for bed! It is such a great feeling to know that he is in there moving around!
Best moment this week: The wedding reception on May 14th was probably my best moment! Not too sure I can say the same for Rick, my mom and some of my wedding party! It was a lot of fun! We put so much work into making the barn look so chic. I have to thank my MOM, she worked tirelessly on it when I couldn’t even be there to help! I also need to thank my aunt Ronna who was my mom’s right hand women putting up the lights and coordinating the power cords so everything would light up! Thanks so much! Of course, I need to thank my sisters and bridesmaids for helping out! Rick’s mom and dad, Patti and Tom, who bought all the soda for us so we didn’t have to worry about that when we flew in on Thursday. I have to thank Rocky too because it was his idea to have the extra tent outside of the barn for the smokers. I think it turned out nicely! Goodness, I could go on and on with thanks….the Skemp’s that help set up and take down! I have to thank Steph, my sister-in-law for doing the majority of the flowers! I loved how they turned out! I am sure I am missing someone but lastly I would like to thank Rick, my lovely HUSBAND, he did a fabulous job on the music for the reception! I know this because my feet hurt after the reception for days:)
Miss anything? Probably alcohol, it was my first sober reception…it was interesting to say the least! I think Rick drank enough for all three of us, haha!
Movement: He is getting so big! I seems that I can feel him move/kick more and more each day! First picture is his leg from his knee down to his foot. Second is a profile of his face.
Food cravings: Still loving olives!
Anything making you queasy or sick? No.
Gender: It’s a BOY! Trying to determine his name. I think we have a first name picked out but just deciding on the perfect middle name.
Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: No symptoms, I feel so lucky that this pregnancy is going so smoothly!
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and tired! It was a long weekend of getting up early and staying up too late. We worked on wedding stuff literally every day for hours! It was a blast but I am glad that it is over…it was so nice to see everyone who made it out! Rick and I felt so loved and had a blast! Now we can focus on the baby and getting ready for him!
Looking forward to: We purchased a crib and matching dresser for the baby’s room. We had help getting it home yesterday and can’t wait to get it out of the box and into his room. I am so excited for my baby shower and slowly see everything come together. His room will be so great when I am done with it. Perfect for a little baby boy to grow into.
Days to go: 136       HALF WAY!!! whoop whoop:)
Baby development: Baby is the size of a banana. He is about 10 inches from head to heel. He is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He is also producing meconium, a black sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and I will see it in his first soiled diaper.

I have reached my halfway point in this pregnancy and I have to say that it has been a breeze! I feel so good…sometimes I have to remind myself that I am even pregnant! haha, yeah I am that girl!

19 weeks

How far along?  19 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: Alright, so I finally have broke even!
Maternity clothes: This week my maternity scrubs came in and they are the most comfortable things in the world. They only complaint is that the bump area is a little too big but I have been told that I will grow into it. So until then I wear the elastic bump thingy to keep them up.
Sleep: Going good, getting use to sleeping obliquely. Its my new position….basically I am a little on my hip and a little on my belly. It seems to be working out!
Best moment this week: I finally found a dress to wear to the reception. It sure is difficult trying to find something that flatters a bump and big boobs! Guys have no idea what we go through!!! Rick was trying to help me pick out a dress but our styles are completely different. I literally bought like 7-8 dresses on-line. Sent them all back for one reason or another. Then I found a dress on amazon. Dress was made in China. Now, I am not knocking China but they don’t always make the best clothing. My experience with China is cheap and NO attention to detail. So I was so nervous buying it! However, I was desperate! I bought it and it got to my house in no time at all….tried it on and OMG it fit and I really like it! Did you notice how I didn’t say love it. Because I really don’t love it. I love my original dress that I wore in Mexico but since I am preggers I can no longer fit into it!
Miss anything? Not really this week, still way to busy with the reception!
Movement: He is such a mover! I love it! I got my 18 week ultrasound this week and they did a few 3-D ultrasound images of him so I could see his face! He is so so cute! I think that he has my nose but does look like Rick. I’m so so in love! I can’t stop looking at the picture! The ultrasound was completely normal and he is right on track, growth wise!

Food cravings: Still loving olives! I have some every day!
Anything making you queasy or sick? No.
Gender: It’s a BOY! I bought him some shoes….too cute couldn’t resist!

Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: No symptoms just him moving!
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy and relieved! As much as I am looking forward to the reception this weekend, I will be happy that it is over! It is a lot of work. So far we have 215 RSVP. Which is crazy! I know everything will be good. I really wish it would be warmer in Wisconsin. It is suppose to be a high of 58 degrees!! Burrrrrr! Once all decorated the barn will be really nice and cozy!
Looking forward to: Reception being over! I am also looking forward to seeing all of my cousins and family, friends from Froedtert, distant relatives and long time friends! It is going to be great! Rick has made our own personalized play list, since we are not having a DJ. He did a really great job at it! Rocky made a song request of ‘Alice’s Restaurant’ which was like 18 minutes long and Rick struggled trying to find a spot for it and he also had to shorten the song. But in the end it sounds great!
Days to go: 147
Baby development: Baby is the size of a heirloom tomato. His sensory development is exploding this week. His brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that he may be able to hear my voice. He weights about 8.5 ounces and is 6 inches in length.
19 week bump
I can’t wait to travel back to Wisconsin for a little less than a week and celebrate (for the final time) Rick an I getting married! I am so thankful to him! He makes me a better person! He is the ying to my yang and I love him! Oh, another thing that happened this week is that Rick and I are finally LEAGALLY married! Whaooooooo!
Love,
Amanda Salinas 🙂

17-18 week ultrasound

17 weeks, my how time flies! I can’t believe that it has been 17 weeks! I feel great! I still have had little to no negative symptoms. So glad for that…I feel very fortunate! Look at my little man!  He is growing so fast! It looks so cramped in there! The last picture is the bottom of his foot as if you were looking up at it. I am pretty sure I see five toes! He is almost getting too big to even fit on the ultrasound screen.

I love you so much my sweet little one! I know that you have a ways to grow but I can’t wait to meet you!

18 weeks

How far along?  18 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: I am still negative one pound gain. And I will take it!
Maternity clothes: This week I decided that I need to invest into some maternity scrub pants and tops. The pants that I have fit me but when I sit down I really feel a lot of pressure on the lower abdomen and it was getting really uncomfortable. So I purchased the same color pants but with room for my bump to grow. As far as the top goes I just purchased a button up scrub top that I can unbutton and wear a white shirt underneath as the bump grows. Its all about the comfort!
Sleep: Definitely feeling a little struggle this week trying to get comfortable. I am a belly sleeper so not being able to do that any longer is somewhat of a struggle. I will get use to it. I have also notice I am peeing much more than I did pre-pregnancy. It’s a glimpse into whats coming I just know it;)
Best moment this week: Getting this wedding reception planned. I feel like I have a great grasp on it! I have everything coordinated to the best of my ability. I think that this will be an awesome PARTY! I hope everyone has fun!
Miss anything? I don’t think I missed much this week. I have been so concentrated on the wedding reception.
Movement: I feel him a lot at night when I am laying down ready to go to bed.
Food cravings: Olives! I love olives. I usually eat two a day! I even like drinking the juice, haha!
Anything making you queasy or sick? No. I feel great!
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: No symptoms other than him kicking me! But I love it!
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, mostly this week! It is a little stressful planning a party for 200 guests and keeping it around a budget. I say around a budget because I have never really been that great at keeping a budget. Rick is much better at sticking to and keeping a budget. I will say that we compliment each other in that aspect.
Looking forward to: I will be having my 18 week anatomy ultrasound of my little man. I am looking forward to seeing all of the measurements they will do.
Days to go: 154
Baby development: Baby is the size of a bell pepper. His is busy flexing his arms and legs, movements that I feel. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from his head at bit.

I love him more and more everyday! I can’t wait to meet him.

Amanda
