17 weeks

How far along?  17 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: I just got back from a quick trip to Platteville, Wisconsin. I came back to help my family with getting the barn ready for our reception on May 14th. We also worked on crafty things for the wedding reception decor. I weighted myself and I still am -3 lbs. So I did gain a little weight…hard to tell if it is baby weight or from not being in a good eating routine.
Maternity clothes: I love this maroon dress I bought. It is a-line and has a little sleeve to it. It just fits my little bump so cute! I wore a jean jacket with it and a cute jeweled necklace.
Sleep: I didn’t sleep very well this last week while in Platteville. I think mostly because I knew I had so much to do and not a lot of time to do it in. Plus I want to visit with my grandma and my aunts while I was in town because I hadn’t seen them since Christmas.
Best moment this week: Being around my family and for them to be able to see my bump. Also, every day I feel him move more and more. It really is the weirdest feeling! But I love every kick and punch I feel. Makes me feel even more connected to him.
Miss anything? I didn’t have time to miss anything this week! I guess I can say that I do miss my family.
Movement: I feel more and more movements. Last night he was just doing some karate kicks in there for a couple minutes. Like I said before, craziest feeling! I tried to have Rick feel but its still too muffled for him to feel it.
Food cravings: No real cravings. I didn’t eat very well in Wisconsin just because we were so busy working….easy quick meals were just easiest going out. While I was home we had a quick cupcake tasting for the reception too. They were so good!
Anything making you queasy or sick? No. But if I don’t eat when I am hungry I feel shaky.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: Belly is growing and it is getting harder to bend forward to touch my toes. I can feel the little bump getting in the way. Still love it though!
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Extremely happy! I got to see some of my family in Wisconsin while cleaning and preparing the barn for the reception. Believe me, we worked hard at cleaning the barn out. I have to thank my mom, my sister Adrianna, Rocky, my bridesmaids Triffina and Mindy.
Looking forward to: Getting everything ready for the wedding reception. There are about 200 guests coming so I feel a little pressure to have everything just right. Plus, I am a little type A when it comes to parties and planning. But I can’t wait it will be so much fun!
Days to go: 160
Baby development: Baby is the size of a turnip. His skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone. His life line, the umbilical cord, is getting stronger and thicker. He weighs 5 ounces and is around 5 inches long. He can move his joints and his sweat glands are starting to develop.

I am looking forward to feeling more and more kicks from him. I cherish everyone. I can’t believe that I am 17 weeks along! It really has flown by! Before I know it, he will be here!

16 weeks

How far along?  16 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: I just got back from a 4 nights in Vegas and I am sure that I gained some weight. I might wait a few days for me to get back into the swing of things to weigh myself. I did speak to my doctor about weigh gain and she said that because I still haven’t gained anything is completely normal for me. Glad to hear!
Maternity clothes: I love maternity clothes! They are so comfortable! Wish I could wear them forever;) ……kidding! But maybe haha
Sleep: I am a very weird sleeper in that I NEED a fan to sleep. Sleeping in Vegas was difficult because they didn’t have fans in the rooms. There was a fan associated with the air conditioning running but it was very quiet. I definitely didn’t get the good quality sleep that I would have if I were home.
Best moment this week: Well we found out it was a BOY. We also decided on a crib and dresser/changing table for him! I have decided that I want to have a woodland themed nursery. NOT a cartoon version but a wildlife/woodland type. I will upload pictures of things I purchased so you will have an idea.(purchased pillow of fox and tippee)
 These are baby room ideas:

Miss anything? Being in Vegas and not drinking was definitely weird to say the least. But when everyone else was hung over the next day, I felt great! Not so bad being sober!
Movement: I definitely felt some big kicks while in Vegas. They caught me off guard. It is such an amazing feeling! I loved every second of it!
Food cravings: No real cravings. I just ate whatever I wanted while in Vegas.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No. Had a mountain dew while in Vegas and it gave me a really bad after taste. So that is depressing but I am sure it is for the best.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: Belly is growing! I was a little short of breath while walking around in Vegas (lots of walking) My feet hurt from all of the walking. I also had a little swelling in my fingers…not sure if it was from all the walking or the salt that I was eating but it only happened one night.
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On, but that one night it was difficult to get them off:)
Happy or moody most of the time: Super happy this week! I had so much fun in Vegas. Some of my old classmates came out for the conference as well so it was so nice to catch up.  We laughed a lot. It was so nice to have a little vacation away.
Looking forward to: Putting the baby’s room together! Next Friday I will travel to Wisconsin to see my family. I can’t wait…I haven’t seen them since Christmas so its long overdue. They also haven’t seen my little bump which it will be nice to show them! The trip is really to complete some of my craft projections for the reception on May 14th 2016. I am excited to see everyone.
Days to go: 168
Baby development: Baby is the size of an avocado. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect and his eyes have moved more towards their final position. His ears are close to their final position too. He has started growing toenails and his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day.

Feeling great! I am so excited to get back to Wisconsin even if it is only for 2-3 days. I also can’t wait to start to feeling him more often.
Love,
Amanda

15 weeks ultrasound

Can’t believe that I am 15 weeks! Time flies…I better say than now because I hear it slows towards the end of the pregnancy! Haha! Rick and I are excited to announce that we are having a little BOY!!!! We couldn’t be more excited! Here is the ultrasound that proved it all! I can’t wait to start shopping for him. We have already purchased a crib and car seats!

Do you see the little penis? It is definitely there! The ultrasound is looking up at the baby’s butt with the femur legs sticking out(two bright lines). Look between the two bright lines.

LOVE HIM!

15 weeks

How far along?  15 weeks
Total weight gain/measurements: I still have kept off 7 lbs. Which I am very excited about. My pregnancy book says that I should eat 200-300 more calories during the second trimester. However, I know that I have not increased my eating because I started out with a little extra weight so I feel that I should be okay. I have a doctors appointment on April 12th 2016 so I will ask my doctor then.
Maternity clothes: I love maternity clothes! They are so comfortable! Wish I could wear them forever;) ……kidding!
Sleep: Still love it but I have pretty much gotten all my energy back. Finally back to working out on a regular basis.
Best moment this week: This week we found out what we are having…..drum roll………….
ITS A BOY!!!
Miss anything? No not really, the usual a glass of wine and sushi.
Movement: I definitely felt some kicks while lying in bed. They are very subtle but I know they were from the baby and not bowel.
Food cravings: Smoothies….my favorite is the vegan mango kale from smoothie king. So good!
Anything making you queasy or sick? No. Still can’t drink coffee as much as I would like too.
Gender: It’s a BOY!
Labor signs: None.
Symptoms: Belly is growing! I can tell because it is getting more difficult to pick up something I dropped on the ground. Not that I can’t but it just feels like my belly is bigger and it gets in the way.
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: This week I was happy and moody! Poor Rick…some times my moods get the best of me. Rick has expressed to me that he is nervous about being a father and that when I told him it was a boy it became more even more real. I am sure it is stressful for him but I know that he will be a great dad! I need to be more mindful about his feelings. I am sure it is hard not to be the one carrying and feeling the baby. He will develop his own special bond soon enough! I love you Rick!
Looking forward to: Putting our crib together for our little MAN! We purchased a beautiful crib from buy buy baby. We also bought a car seat for our vehicles. They were a good deal, couldn’t pass them up!
Days to go: 175
Baby development: Baby is the size of an apple. He is moving amniotic fluid through his respiratory tract. Eyelids are still fused shut but he can sense light. Taste buds are also forming.

I am feeling great! I can’t wait to meet my little man! Can’t believe I am having a little boy! Already so in LOVE!

14 week ultrasound

This is the baby at 14 weeks. It looks a little cramped in there but everything is looking great!

In my baby books describes the biggest developments to be that the baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee and possible suck his or her thumb. lol but MY baby has already accomplished the thumb sucking last week. Maybe that is a good sign for how smart his or she will be! I can only hope!! I just know that I love you so much already!

182 days until his or she is due!! Enjoy.

Sleep: Getting a lot of it! Think I always will!
Best moment this week: This week my best moment was when I was at work and having my lovely ultrasound technologist do a quick little scan just to see the baby. AND we think we could see the sex!!! So exciting! I am not going to post the sex on this weeks blog just because it is still really early and we want to be sure. OMG, I can’t wait!
Miss anything? Not this week.
Movement: Not sure….I feel like I have felt some flutters in my stomach but can’t be sure it isn’t bowel moving around. Time will tell:)
