Graham – 18 months

My love bug –Snapchat-8881947

You are my sweetest little boy. You are so smart! You know all of your ABC’s. You can count to 100! You can recognize small words like mom, dad, nan, pop when they are written. You are also talking up a storm. You like to repeat what we say alot. You can even recognize animals and what they say…dog says woof! You are just starting to get a little personality. You are very easy going. You don’t make much of a fuss! Of course, sometimes when we want you to go inside from playing outside and you don’t want too, we hear about it. You just sit down and get upset! I don’t ever see a tear but you show that you are made! You love to play with chalk outside. You are really good at making strike marks on the ground. You always ask mom and dad to draw ovals, circle, suns and trees. You love for us to draw numbers and letters and shapes with chalk and then you walk over to them and almost check them off. It is soo cute and it proves how smart you are!! You are like a sponge! You also love to be read too. Your favorite books are these small baby books about colors, touch and feel books, Pout Pout fish ABC book, Chicka chicka boom boom, numbers books and I love you night and day. You are a pretty good sleeper. You are still nursing, again, I never thought that I would nurse you this long but it just works for us! Its not much only at night and mornings. I love our special time together. You love to take baths and showers. We have some foam like ABC/123 letters that you love to stick to the wall and say over and over. Again, its just why you are so live and breath learning and it comes so natural to you. In the mornings you love to eat toast with peanut butter and bananas. Eggs with tofu sausage and oatmeal. You love gold fish! We buy it in bulk at costco! Yes, you are still vegetarian! Honestly, you barley even eat cheese and we don’t give you any milk. You still drink nut milk (almond and cashew mixed milk) You love drinking water and it is extremely rare that you get apple juice(that I water down).

We will be having some visitors for Easter. Grandma and Papa and Alana will be flying from WI to visit us. They will stay for 4-5 days. We are going to an Easter Egg hunt that we went to when you were about 8 months old and you were pretty unsure of what it was. This time you had much more fun. There was a petting zoo with a few animals. You liked to just look. But they had a bunch of games that you loved playing with. Bricks that you could stack and knock down and a large connect four game…you were in heaven.  When it came time to sit on the Easter bunnies lap, you were not having it. I barely could get a photo of you on his lap. You had so much fun with Grandma and Papa and Alana. They spoiled you! At the end of April we are going to North Carolina for your great great uncle Toby (who passed away about 10 years ago from brain cancer) golf outing. It is great way for us to catch up with the Skemp side of the family! They all loved meeting you and playing with you! Pop and Nan rented a house on the beach. You LOVED the ocean! You enjoyed the waves chasing you on the beach! You were so worn out after that outing! It was nice to see everyone and celebrate Toby’s life!

We also have to look for another nanny. Debbie had a hernia repair and couldn’t lift you and she also needs more time for her kids over the summer. So Nan came back with us from NC to watch you for a couple weeks until we could find a new nanny! This is one of the most difficult things that I have to do is find someone that loves you and takes care of you as much as I do….which is impossible but I have to work for a few more months until we get a replacement at our business for me and then I hope to only work 2 days a week or so. Long story short it was nice to have Nan take such good care of you but in the end we did choose a new nanny named Taylor. I hope she does such a good job taking care of you! It would break my heart if she doesn’t!

I love watching you grow and learn. I love you so much, words can’t even describe!

Graham – 15 months

To my love, Graham- You are one smart little boy! You catch on so quickly! You can already say and acknowledge a handful of letters and numbers. Right now you can say A, D, F, O, S, T, X, and Z. For numbers you can say 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10. You can tell me what a cow says and what a duck says. You are only 15 months. This type of knowledge is with a 3-4 year old. You love to see and play with letters and numbers. I want you to know that we are not pushing you to learn anything. You just pick it up so quickly and easily! Its funny when you are just relaxing if your crib we can hear you saying letters and numbers to yourself. You are so smart and I am so so proud of you! You are such a busy body. The only time you are still is when you are watching nursery rhymes on our Ipad. Watching you, it seems that you are always working. You love to push everything! I bought you a battery powered four wheeler and you don’t like riding it but you love to push it! In fact you love to push most things…even your mom! Its the cutest thing because you can’t communicate you get behind me and push me where you want me to go with you. You are such a boy too. Love to play in puddles and you don’t mind getting dirty, which I encourage. You are also not afraid of much. You test all boundaries. You will run anywhere and in any direction. You climb all over the couches. You have even climbed out of your crib and fell to the floor(time for us to lower your mattress). It barely phased you! You have bumps and bruises demonstrating how rough and tumble you are. In that same breath, you are such a sweet boy too. You love to give kisses and be cuddled! You are still nursing but only in the mornings and at night. I never imagined that I would nurse this long but it just seems to work and I love those moments with you! Plus, it gives you a lot of good nutrients! You had the tubes put into your ears January 6th 2017. The surgery was like 15 minutes and since then you have slept better and (if its possible) been even happier than before. I am glad that we did the surgery and you have never looked back. We had Christmas back in Wisconsin, again. It was a quick week long trip. You were spoiled by both families! You are just getting the hang of tearing wrapping paper to get to your gifts. You don’t really understand that there is a gift inside it. Your presents consisted of a play farm, books, puzzles and clothes. You loved your great Grandmother, Arlene and Harlo house. They have a large foyer and you ran back and forth, back and forth. Not sure what you like about that area but you were drawn to that area!  You were a pleasure to travel with. The key was in the airport we just let you run in the airport to wear of an extra energy. You enjoyed watching us take off and land! You love going to one of several recreation centers in Virginia. They have a huge pool, with a large kiddy area that has fountains in it. You love the fountains! YOU LOVE THE WATER! I am so happy that you love the water so much! I can’t wait until summer so we can enjoy the beach again! I know that I say this almost every post but you are the light of my life! I wake up every morning thinking of you and go to sleep every night thinking of you! I can’t really express into words what you mean to me but you truly are a gift and I enjoy so so much watching you learn and grow every single day!

Happy birthday my love!!!! You are a year old, oh my goodness! Where did the time go! It flew by! You are the best little boy. I could not have asked for a better son! You are seriously the light of my life! When you came along you flipped my world but in the best way possible! I love watching you grow and learn. You are very coordinated for your age and you learn quickly. You are very independent but when mom is nearby you feel very safe testing your boundaries! You love to play with bouncy balls. You love to throw EVERYTHING…baseball player maybe?? Haha. You are too cute. You will be running down our hallway towards the living room. Dad and I will be on the couch and you will run in and smile the biggest smile….like ta-da, here I am…look at me!! It is cute! You love to play with your vtech train set. It has a tunnel and you to push things through to the other side. So smart! You can say da da da, la, ba, ta! It is so cute because you look at me and say da, ba, ta and you think that I understand you because I respond to you like, yeah, go on, I understand….I love it! We kinda have our own language:) You love to sing and be sung too.

You dislike: Sleeping and napping. I think its because you don’t want to miss anything! I still love you so so much!!

Achievements: You have achieved so much in a year! You walked by 9 1/2 months. You have eaten only a vegetarian diet. You still breast feed as i am writing this. You have had 5 ear infections so we are in the process for scheduling you for ear tube surgery. I think it will help you sleep and prevent any more ear infections! You can say Da and Ma. You love ot sing and be sung too! You love music and watching nursery rhymes.  You can feed yourself pretty much anything…but you are a disaster after. Dad doesn’t like when you get dirty. Mom loves it! You can drink from a sippy cup and a camelbak water bottle. You have only had water and breast milk at this point. I don’t think we are going to give you soda or juice. I guess I can’t stop Grandma’s from giving you some but Mom and Dad will not. It is just not good for you! You love to play at the park and will walk up to any kid and just stand there looking at them. It’s so funny because they don’t understand why you are just standing there not saying anything! You can go up and down stairs all by yourself. You are really good at it too! You love to play in the toilet. I usually let you watch/help me flush(as I hold your hands down so you won’t put your hands in the water). You seem so mesmerized by it! You love to be read too. We read 6 or more books to you every night before you go to bed. You poop almost like clock work. I can almost tell when you are going to poop…which will make potty training easy, I hope! Also, whether you pee or poop you are always in the crouching position. So funny!

Your birthday celebrating was fun! Unfortunately, it was just the three for us but it was still fun! Of course, I had a banner made, blew up balloons, made a cake with a little smash cake for you! You smashed the heck out of it! You got lots of gifts for you birthday like books, clothes and toys! That evening we had family pictures taken. They turned out amazing! You were a little ham! You are so happy!

Teeth: 8

Looking forward too: Since you turned one I am only going to post every three months until you are two years old, hopefully! Also, Mom and Dad created a time capsule for you to open up when you turn 21 years old. It should be interesting!! I look forward to watching you grew into a caring, considerate, brilliant, vegetarian/vegan young man! You are my greatest adventure and I am so glad to be your mother!

I love you,

Graham – Eleven Months

20170921_140444You love: To play with your bouncy balls in the hallway with Dad. He kicks it down the hallway and you love to run after it. You pick it up and run back to Dad and throw it to him(left handed). You are getting so coordinated. You have even started running forward and then stopping and running backwards. I don’t know too many 11 month olds that can do that. You are saying da da da a ton! I am not sure you correlate that with it being Dad but if you ask Dad he would say so! You have always been very vocal and you are starting to look at something and baby talk more. You still love to be sung too and read too! Lately your favorite books have been, Good Night Moon. But your Grandma Patti got you these Baby First books that you really like as well! You are starting to nurse less and less but still find comfort in it throughout the day. It is our special time together and I love it! You love to come into the bathroom with us! I even will let you help me flush and watch (no touching) the water flush down the toilet. You seem so interested! Lets hope you are this interested when it comes time to potty train! Mom got you these mega blocks to play with (they were suppose to be for your bday but I just couldn’t wait for you to play with them) you are very good with hand, eye coordination! You can build towers and you are not even a year old! Smart boy! I love to watch you accomplish this stuff! I clap and say yeahhhhh and you just smile with the look of triumph! We have started counting and saying colors with you. You look at me with such concentration when I am showing you a yellow cup and saying it in English and Spanish. I have to be honest I am not very good at saying Spanish words even though I took 4 years of Spanish!! But we are learning together! You love water…any water! Ocean, pool, bath, and sprinkler in our backyard. I am so glad that you like it so much because I do too! You love to go for bike rides and walks in the stroller! I wouldn’t say that you love to sleep but Mom and Dad turned the volume really low for the monitor and you have started sleeping through the night! Sometimes you wake up around 3 but you quickly realize its still sleep time and put yourself back to sleep. We took you to a jump park for the first time and you loved it! People were asking how old you were because you were walking over these pads so well they couldn’t believe that you were only 11 months! So coordinated! I can’t wait to see what sports you will be in when you are older! I know that you will be a star! We also took you to the air show in Virginia Beach but it was really loud and Mom didn’t think it was an appropriate place for a toddler. You also met some of the blue angels that actually fly the jets, Dad really enjoyed this!

You dislike: You don’t enjoy getting ready for bed. Its a struggle to put your clothes on but that seems to be getting better! You are hot and cold when it comes to food. One night we made sauteed mushrooms and you loved them! The next day you wanted nothing to do with them. Some times I have to trick you into eating something I know you love like yogurt, just for you to eat it! Silly boy! We are still raising you vegetarian and even though we give you yogurt and some cheese we have decided not to give you cows milk after we are through with breast milk and breast feeding. I feel cows milk is really bad for you, especially since we really have no idea all the medications the cows get when they are on the farm! I have a storage of breast milk and when that is gone and we are done breast feeding you will be getting calcium fortified hemp milk. Not sure how you will like it but its better for you! Mom and Dad cook with and drink almond milk but you need more protein and calcium than that offers. Naps….not your favorite thing to do. It sometimes is a challenge to get two naps in because you will start off nursing but then quickly want to get up and play. Some times I have to just put you in your crib and let you cry it out otherwise you would be so grumpy!

Achievements: After a few face plants you are getting so good at going out our front door. It’s a big step down for a toddler so I am proud that you are learning so quickly and not always turning to Mom and Dad to be carried out. You have learned to stack your mega blocks. You and Dad build tall towers and you always love to push it so it falls. You love to hear it crash! You are getting better at feeding yourself food, although sometimes you just like to push it to the edge of your high chair and then watch it fall off! Of course, saying da da da but what happened to ma ma ma?! You use to say that all the time! I can’t wait to hear you talk and ask why why why. Another thing that you are getting so good at is walking with shoes on! You use to trip a lot but now you barely ever fall!

Teeth: 8

Height: 31 inches

Weight: 25 lbs

Looking forward too: Hearing you talk more and more! Watching you grow and become a little boy! Not too fast…I always love my snuggles from you! I can’t believe you are almost one…MAYBE it’s about time for a little brother and sister.

I love you,

Graham – Ten Months

You love: To run, sing, blow raspberries! You love to run up and down our hallway chasing after your football and bouncy balls. You are usually screaming in excitement when doing so. It is so so cute! You still love the vibrating door stops and our rug at the front door. It is like a routine everyday you make your rounds to the door stops down to the rug. I recently put shoes on your feet(size 4, and they are alittle big) I don’t think that you like them much but you will get use to them. We have a gate at the bottom of our stairs and everyday you have to go check it out. You stand there and shake it, hoping that it will topple over so you can climb the stairs. Well this particular day, I went up stairs to quickly get dressed. No more than two minutes and I heard you shake the gate but I didn’t think anything of it. As I am about to come down the stairs, I realize that you are at the very TOP of the stairs! My heart stopped! You could have fallen all the way down the stairs and really hut yourself! I am so glad nothing happened!! Lesson learned Mom…don’t leave Graham alone! Another crazy story about you is that the townhome that we live must have been built on a giant ant hill because all of the tenants have complained about ant infestation. So my mom told me about this poison called Terro. It comes in a plastic container. The ants go up and eat the poison and take it back to the nest and kill them all. Well since you are into everything I tried my best to hide it with your high chair and a towel but nooooo. I wasn’t watching you for two seconds and you whipped the towel off and found the container and proceded to pour it our all over you and the floor. When I found you the container was actually in your mouth!!! I freaked! I checked your face and didn’t find any of the really sticky poison anywhere but I literally threw you in the kitchen sink and started washing you off and removing your clothes! I almost called poison control but you didn’t eat any of it! Thank goodness!

You dislike: You seem to be nursing a little less and eating more and more solid foods. The last month you really were picky on the solid foods but this month you are much more adventurous! Still not very good at wanting to feed yourself. When I place crackers or cut up cheese on your tray you like to swipe it on to the floor. So I have to feed you piece by piece! You will get it! We just keep trying:) You still wake up and cry between midnight and 3am, ugh. At this point I really try not to come in and get you because I know you are safe, dry and fed. You just have to learn to put yourself back to sleep. Once you are 11 months I think the night feedings will stop, we will see!

Achievements: Getting use to wearing shoes. Getting better at sleeping longer through the nights. You really like the beach. When the tide it out there is an anwesome sand bar that is really shallow and it creates this little tide pools for you to play in, you love it! You are getting better at walking in sand!

Teeth: still 7 teeth, four on top and three on bottom; I can see the bottom left is going to break through any day…

Height: 29.5 in

Weight: 24 lbs

Looking forward too: Going back to Wisconsin for a week an a half. Hope you do as well as you did on our last plane ride. I can’t wait! Our last visit was a sad one due to my grandmother passing. Plus, you are walking now and that is exciting! I think that you are a wonderful, smart, bright, lovable, cuddly, sweet little boy! I can’t believe that your almost one! I enjoy being your mother every single day! When I come in your room to get you, you always greet me with the biggest smile! It melts my heart and I absolutely love it!

I love you,
